I’m Shama. I was born into fire before I ever chose it. I grew up in a Hindu family in Nepal, in a home where the women lit the sacred fire twice a day, at sunrise and sunset, without fail. My mother, my aunt, my grandmother… each tending to their own altar, lighting the lamp, chanting. It was a daily constant. Repetitive. I didn’t care for it. I didn’t understand it. I thought it was just something they did. But fire remembers, even when you don’t.
Years later, sitting in the hills of Panchase, I was asked to tend a fire. Just keep it alive. Feed it. Blow into it when it started to fade. Somewhere in that simple act, something in me caught. A kind of inner ignition. A heat in my chest that wasn’t going anywhere. A clarity that didn’t come from thinking. Something that moved on its own and asked to be followed.
Since then, life hasn’t felt the same. I’ve trained in yoga and meditation, yes. I understand the body, the breath, the nervous system. But what I do now isn’t just from training. It’s from staying with that fire. Letting it lead. Letting it strip things back. Letting it show me what’s real and what isn’t. Now, I work with women who feel that a pull, even if they can’t explain it yet. The ones who are tired of holding everything together. The ones who know there’s something deeper but can’t quite access it. The ones who don’t need more information… they need something real.
In my retreats, we don’t try to become better versions of ourselves. We slow down. We sit with what’s there. We let the body speak. We let the fire rise. And it does. Not because I give it to you. Because it was already yours. I just know how to hold the space until you feel it for yourself. If something in you is reading this and going quiet… or pulling you forward a little… That’s the part I work with. And once it’s lit, it doesn’t go back to sleep.
